Today we interviewed Mrs. Lyman and her students from A3 What is Daily 5? Daily 5 is learning groups we do every day. What rotations are there in Daily 5? There are computer, read with teacher, word work, journal and read to self. How do you think this is better from the usual reading work shop? It is better for them because they are with their reading level groups. We also have parent volunteers come in to help guide them. What are your students reading? We are reading from the Wonders books and for the higher leveled kids we are reading chapter books How do you like it, more or less than the regular reading workshop?
"I like it more than the regular reading because it helps us with our sentences and writing skills" says one of Mrs. Lyman's students. Some of the students were reading Junie B. Jones and All About Sharks. When the students hear the bell they know it means switch. If you happen to stop by you should know it is from 11:50 to 1:15. If you would like to learn more go to The Daily Cafe. #Daily5 That is all for now. -Kennedy, Hannah and Kyle from 5th grade blogging club This week the blogging club interviewed the JPO leader Mr. Kawaguchi. This is a picture of Madysen, Caroline, and Mr.Kawaguchi. We found out that he has a selfie stick. In this picture, we used it. In this picture, we saw the old JPO room. Now this has become a General Utility closet. We were pretty amazed because it is a lot smaller than the current JPO room. In the pictures below, you will see the materials JPO team members use when they are at work. There is a bunch of stop signs, a safety helmet, a schedule and the JPO vests. In these pictures we have both of the counselors but they are secretly JPO leaders. To the left is Mr. Kawaguchi, and to the right is Mr.Mots. Thank you for reading our blog post.
We are Madysen and Caroline. Do you want to know about International Dot Day? Last week, we interviewed our librarian Mrs. Colte to ask questions about Dot Day!The book called The Dot was written by Peter H. Reynolds which became an international celebration. "Because it's a short story that everyone can understand but the message is strong" said Mrs.Colte.Dot Day is a day to celebrate creativity, art, and inspiration. Mrs. Colte will be having a Dot Day Celebration here at Hale Kula Elementary School. It is called Dot Day Monster Mashup. Check out below the details to join in all the fun and awesomness. You may ask, "What is the point of dot day?" Well, dot day is important because it allows kids to let their creativity shine! Maybe if other kids see their work, it will inspire others to try and never give up. This is what you will be creating at the Dot Day Monster Mashup. The materiels you will be using have been donated from parents and staff. So let give a thanks to those who have helped and help bring Dot Day Monster Mashup come to a reality. "I love seeing projects inspired from the book Dot Day," said Mrs.Colte.
